Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Diversification Program
- Australia has committed A$50 million to develop and diversify clean energy supply chains in the Indo-Pacific region, as part of the Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Diversification Program.
- Funding is available for research and development projects and feasibility studies targeting solar photovoltaic (PV), hydrogen electrolyser and battery supply chains.
- Projects must be delivered jointly between Australian organisations and Indo-Pacific organisations (including in Singapore).
- Applications for Round 1 are expected to open in November 2024.
- Up to A$25 million will be available under this round. Grant sizes will range from A$100,000 to A$2.5 million. A second round of applications is expected to open in the second half of 2025.
- The program was announced by the Quad – Australia, India, Japan and the United States – at the 2023 Leaders’ Summit. It supports the implementation of the Quad Principles on Clean Energy Supply Chains – a foundation for engagement on clean energy supply chains in the Indo-Pacific.
Grant criteria
- Projects must be aimed at developing, diversifying and/or reducing vulnerabilities in solar PV, hydrogen electrolyser and battery supply chains. Projects must focus on one or more of the following stages of these supply chains:
- raw material processing
- manufacturing of components
- assembly
- recycling.
Funding will be available for:
- Research and development projects that target innovative technologies, processes or solutions to help improve efficiencies, lower manufacturing costs or reduce material dependencies.
- Feasibility study projects that support business case development for prospective clean energy-related processing, manufacturing and recycling facilities in the Indo-Pacific.
Full guidelines will be published in November 2024 when the program opens for applications.
